Relatively warm but cooler than expected maximum temperatures occurred today with the west coast trough near the west coast, west coast trough moving inland from Monday afternoon and hence cooler maximum temperature with early sea breezes on Tuesday.

Likely hot conditions late during working week with the west coast trough deepening down the west coast with warm air advection, though still some uncertainty this far out with variation between models and model ensembles.

There is also the slight chance of diurnal convection with sea breeze convergence on Friday with some atmospheric instability possible with relatively steep vertical steep lapse rates but still plenty of uncertainty.

Plenty of uncertanty on the precise synoptic conditions during the weekend.

The long spell with no 40+ Degree Days continues with the last 40+ Degree Day being Australia Day last year! With no 40+ Degree day within the forecast period, the next 40+ Degree Day will be at least the latest during summer as the 2005-2006 summer.
