The west coast trough moved inland this afternoon with the marine layer advecting over the region, moist low level air overnight leads to the possibility of marine layer clouds overnight, predicted by ACCESS model but not other models.

Likely hot conditions on Thursday with the west coast trough deepening down the west coast with warm air advection.

Maximum temperature forecast for Friday has been downgraded and may be further downgraded as the west coast trough is now expected to move inland in the morning as opposed to in the afternoon resulting in early sea breezes.

There is also the slight chance of diurnal convection with sea breeze convergence on Friday with some atmospheric instability possible with relatively steep vertical steep lapse rates but still plenty of uncertainty.

Some uncertainty on the precise synoptic conditions during the weekend but it will be cooler than Thursday and Friday.

The long spell with no 40+ Degree Days continues with the last 40+ Degree Day being Australia Day last year! With no 40+ Degree day within the forecast period, the next 40+ Degree Day will be at least the latest during summer as the 2005-2006 summer.
