A strong somewhat easterly pressure gradient lies over the region especially overnight tonight and early tomorrow with an unusually strong high pressure ridge to the south with maximum central Mean Sea Level Pressure(MSLP as high as 1040 hPa!
Wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h possible tonight and early tomorrow especially over the hills and foothills.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology(BOM) has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds effective tonight and early tomorrow. Please see the latest warning at http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW21037.shtml.

As vertical mixing decreases past midnight, winds over the coastal plain possibly weaken but gusty winds will still likely penetrate at times, winds remain strong over the hills and foothills.
Some high clouds also overnight and tomorrow streaming in a subtropical jet stream aloft.
Some middle level clouds from Monday to Thursday with moist air aloft.
The west coast trough then moves inland with a cold front, low pressure system and thereafter cold air mass possibly affecting the region from Thursday bringing showers.
