The west coast trough lied inland yesterday and today but hot air mass remains aloft as a result large differences in maximum temperatures occurred between coastal and inland coastal plain.

The chance of some marine layer clouds and also high clouds overnight.

A strong somewhat easterly pressure gradient reestablishes over the region again from the weekend as a stronger than usual ridge of high pressure lies to the south, this condition likely persists until mid week next week with the high pressure system moving into the Great Australian Bight leading to some warm air advection early next week.

Plenty of uncertainty on precisely how hot it will be with plenty of variation between models and ensemble models.

We had the first summer without a 40+ Degree day at the Perth metro station since the summer of 2001-2002.
