Figure 2.The Australian Bureau of Meteorology(BOM) has issued a severe weather warning for heavy rainfall, damaging winds and abnormally high tides for parts of the west and southwest of the state including the Perth Metropolitan Area for Monday. Please see http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW21037.shtml for the latest severe weather warning.

Warm air mass lies over the region.
Some virga likely for the rest of today with plenty of moisture aloft ahead of an upper level trough resulting in plenty of middle and high level clouds but dry air below.
Plenty of rainfall likely on Monday with a rainband associated with a cold front ahead of an upper level trough interacting with tropical moisture.Strong gusty winds are likely, with gusts in excess of 90 km/h possible especially near the coast.Whether or not strong gusts occur near the surface depends on how precipitation could push stronger winds aloft to the surface. If these don't occur then it may not be windy over inland coastal plain.Currently ECMWF guidance shows 80+ km/h winds at 950 hPa level which could be dragged down to the surface by precipitation.

Westerly flow on Tuesday results in showers, another cold frontal passage on Wednesday with deep cold air mass over the region thereafter, bringing the possibility of thunderstorms and/or small hail.
