Explanatory notes:
The Perth and Peel Region lockdown has been lifted, however some restrictions remain. Follow the latest update at https://www.facebook.com/MarkMcGowanMP .
Warm afternoons over the next few days with the warm air mass over the region with the west coast trough remaining very near the coast and moving back and forth but cool to cold mornings given the lengthening nights as the season progresses.
High and middle level clouds at times streaming in the subtropical jet stream with embedded weak upper level troughs and the broad longwave trough to the west.
Depending on how well the moist marine layer advects inland later today, the possibility of fog early on Wednesday, most likely to the south with the possibility of slightly drier air advecting from the east.
Possible smoke haze at times until early on Thursday with prescribed burning activities.
A significant cold front is likely to move over the region late on Thursday or possibly early on Friday with a cold air mass over the region thereafter bringing further showers.
There is the possibility of thunderstorms with the cold frontal passage with moist and unstable air ahead of the front and also behind the cold front (most likely over southern suburbs) in the unstable deep cold air mass/ upper level cold pool but still some uncertainty on how far north the upper level cold pool extends this far out in time.
Some uncertainty from Saturday with variation between models and models and ensembles with the possibility of another weaker cold front moving from the south or the ridge blocking the cold front from moving over the region.
