Effective as of 4:00 AM Sunday April 25 2021
Explanatory notes:
Perth (and the Peel region) is in the second day of lockdown. Follow the latest update at https://www.facebook.com/MarkMcGowanMP .
The west coast trough moved inland on Saturday afternoon, the moist marine layer has advected inland hence the possibility of fog and low cloud early today, most likely over the far southern suburbs and also over the far northern suburbs with Himawari-8 night microphysics imagery at 4 AM showing fog and low cloud north of Joondalup and south of Mandurah.
Warm afternoons over the next few days with the warm air mass over the region with the west coast trough remaining very near the coast and moving back and forth but cool to cold mornings given the lengthening nights as the season progresses.
I have increased the maximum temperature forecast for Monday Tuesday relative to OCF guidance taking into account today's maximum temperatures as a similar pattern is expected then with 850 hPa temperatures even slightly warmer though possibly an earlier sea breeze, particularly on Tuesday.
Possible smoke haze at times with prescribed burning activities.
A significant cold front or low pressure system is likely to move over the region on Friday or the slight possibility of late on Thursday with a cold air mass over the region thereafter but as usual some uncertainty on the details this far out.
