Effective as of 4:00 PM Saturday June 5 2021
Explanatory notes:
The ridge of high pressure over the region has lead to fine conditions with pleasant afternoons but cold mornings with good radiational cooling overnight. Minimum temperatures were often lower than NWP and OCF guidance due to boundary layer decoupling.
A cold front brings some showers on Sunday with showers first developing over the far southwest of the metropolitan area, near Mandurah, Rockingham from tonight with low level wind convergence, showers most likely stay south of the city until the cold front approaches th region during the day.
The tropical low near the Christmas and Cocos Islands likely evolves into a subtropical low pressure system as it gets caught ahead of an upper level trough and lies to the west of Perth towards the middle of the next working week bringing showers and possible thunderstorms and also possible gusty winds but plenty of uncertainty this far out.
Thereafter, showery conditions likely persist through the end of the forecast period with generally onshore flow with embedded troughs and cold fronts but some uncertainty on the details this far out.
