Explanatory notes:
Strengthening easterly gradient flow restricted the afternoon sea breeze to the coast on Saturday.
The strong easterly gradient combined with katabatic effect is leading to strong easterly gusts over the hills and foothills until morning with gusts exceeding 80 km/h possible.
A hot day tomorrow with the hot air mass over the region as the west coast trough depends offshore.
The west coast trough moves inland on Monday morning bringing cooler conditions with the marine layer advecting inland bringing some low clouds by night.
The slight chance of light showers on Tuesday with plenty of low clouds with the marine layer over the region. Showers possible from Wednesday to Friday with also the slight chance of thunderstorms on Thursday ahead of an upper level trough, though still some uncertainty on the precise conditions this far out.
