Explanatory notes:



Plenty of cloud cover today meant that maximum temperature were below forecasts, some isolated showers had developed with atmospheric instability with steep vertical lapse rate with a cold pool aloft ahead of an upper level trough.

Plenty of clouds remain on Friday with the slight chance of a shower again with the cold pool remaining aloft.

Mostly sunny on Saturday with the cold pool aloft having contracted to the east.

The slight chance of showers and thunderstorms again on Sunday and Monday as another upper level trough approaches from the west.

Fine conditions thereafter as subtropical high pressure ridge builds to the south.
