Explanatory notes:

The Mt Lawley site has seen the hottest January on record with a mean maximum temperature of 33.7C beating the record of 33.5C set in January 2012.

It was the hottest January at the official Perth station since January 1962. 

Significant east-southeasterly then easterly gradient flow suppressed sea breezes with strong gusts over the hills and foothills early and in the morning and at night, gusts in excess of 80 km/h occurred over the hills and foothills early and in the morning yesterday. Cool early hours and mornings with radiational cooling and cool air advection.

Becoming very hot again from today and into Saturday as hot air mass advects over the region as west coast trough deepens off the west coast

Some uncertainty on the precise synoptic conditions from Sunday and into next week with variation between models and model ensembles but conditions are virtually certain to be much cooler as a much cooler air mass moves in bringing significant relief.
