7 day weather forecast

Effective as of 4:00 PM Thursday April 22 2021

Explanatory notes:

Plenty of high clouds over the region ahead of an upper level trough sufficient to suppress maximum temperatures below forecast today.  Radar images show a prescribed burn over the hills to the northeast of Armadale and another prescribed burn over the Gnangara-moore River State Forest.

With winds east-southeasterly to southeasterly over the next few hours, possible smoke haze over the region most likely over southern suburbs with winds at the altitude of most of the smoke plume still expected to remain easterly.

The west coast trough is deepening off the west coast with warm air advection and is expected to move slightly inland from Saturday afternoon, remaining very near the coast and moving back and forth, this means that the marine layer is expected to advect inland from Saturday afternoon, the possibility of fog and low cloud early on Sunday and Monday but still some uncertainty on the details.

Some smoke haze from prescribed burns is still possible but is less likely given that the gradient flow shifts to be northeasterly tomorrow and northwesterly from Saturday, any smoke haze then is likely to  come prescribed burns to the north particularly over the Gnangara-moore River State Forest.

Warm afternoons over the next few days with the warm air mass over the region but cool to cold mornings given the lengthening nights as the season progresses.
