Explanatory notes:
Possible elevated showers and thunderstorms in the next few hours ahead of an upper level disturbance and also strong winds especially over the hills and foothills with a tight pressure gradient and katabatic effect. A rainband is also developing to the north.
Thunderstorm chances ease by morning with vertical lapse rates becoming less steep due to cooler air moving in from the southeast in the lower levels and also cooling of the lower levels by the rain. Showers remain possible ahead of the upper level disturbance with plenty of clouds with moist low level air.
Fine conditions from afternoon as the upper level disturbance moves to the east with fine conditions continuing through the end of the forecast period with subtropical high pressure to the south.
