Explanatory notes:
Some convective clouds have developed to the east of the sea breeze front with atmospheric instability with steep vertical lapse rates ahead of an upper level disturbance. However, thunderstorms have yet to develop. Also some smoke haze over the region from prescribed burns.Altocumulus castellanus clouds had also developed indicative of mid level instability. With the mid level instability ahead of the upper level disturbance, elevated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the region tonight and into tomorrow, most likely during the early hours with a rainband also developing to the north.
Thunderstorm chances ease by Tuesday morning with vertical lapse rates becoming less steep due to cooler air moving in from the southeast in the lower levels and also cooling of the lower levels by the rain. Showers continue ahead of the upper level disturbance with plenty of clouds with moist low level air.
Fine conditions from Tuesday evening as the upper level disturbance moves to the east with fine conditions continuing through the end of the forecast period with subtropical high pressure to the south.
